The global climate protection goals can be seen as an opportunity to drive sustainable regional development by using local energy resources more stringently and generating both ecological and economic benefits. The models of the project partners IAPG and DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems are used to determine potentials of regional climate-neutral energy production and to match them with regional needs, such as the heating requirements of buildings or the resulting demand for energy storage. The models are applied to the example region of Wesermarsch.
