The project Niedersächsischer Wärmeplaner (NIWaP) aims to examine the possibilities and limitations of harmonizing data and methodologies across the federal state of Lower Saxony, alongside the municipal heat planning processes already underway. Specifically, the NIWaP project is investigating the following research question:
How can the provision of data, methods, and interactive software tools for strategic heat planning be harmonized across the state?
Lower Saxony is particularly well suited as an example region for investigating this research question, as it has a cross-section of all municipality sizes spread across its area. This ensures that the project results can be transferred to other federal states.
